This scholarship is intended for children of employees associated with Genesis Alkali (formerly Tronox/FMC) at the Sweetwater County, Wyoming plant. The applicant’s parent must meet the employment status requirements described below at the time the award is granted.

Vera Asay Sargent was born and raised in Lovell, Wyoming. During the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s she raised three children on her own (two daughters and one son), working for the CB&Q railroad and taking on various jobs in Lovell to provide for her family.
