In 2006, the Walls Family Scholar Athlete Foundation (TWF) was founded with the aim of acknowledging and rewarding scholar athletes who exhibit outstanding academic prowess, robust leadership abilities, and significant community involvement. Our main objective is to honor and assist those who are not only champions in their sports but also in their classrooms, shaping their future while making a profound and positive influence on others in their community.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The selection of applicants will be based on the following:

• TWF Scholar Athletes are esteemed and trusted figures in their schools and communities, having established strong bonds with their peers, teammates, school administrators, and community members. They are known for their sportsmanship and high moral standards.
• TWF Scholar Athletes are academically gifted and excel in their educational pursuits.
• TWF Scholar Athletes have shown a significant dedication to enhancing the lives of others and have distinguished themselves as community leaders through their enthusiasm for service.
• TWF Scholar Athletes represent diversity, fairness, and inclusivity through their unique life experiences, community activism, diverse academic goals, and participation in various sports.
• TWF Scholar Athletes are the epitome of future leaders, demonstrating the following inherent qualities:
  • Driven and proactive leadership;
  • Inspirational and charismatic presence;
  • Honesty and integrity;
  • Intellectual prowess; and
  • Bravery.

• 20% Essay
• 20% Video reel (refer to application for complete details)
• 20% Recommendations
• 20% Community service and volunteer work

REWARDS

TWF Scholar Athletes will be awarded scholarships that reflect their grade level, in recognition of their academic, athletic, and community achievements.

QUALIFICATIONS

To qualify for a TWF Scholar Athlete Scholarship or the Larry D. Walls Legal Scholar Award, applicants must:

• Be an honor student from 5th to 12th grade (Scholar Athlete Award) or a graduating female undergraduate student enrolling in an accredited law school in fall 2025 (Legal Scholar Award).
• Participate competitively in one or more sports at their school or a private sports club (Scholar Athlete Award).
• Be actively involved in a volunteer organization or charity.
• Have demonstrated a need for financial aid.
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5.
• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident (proof of citizenship and age will be required if selected).

Application Process

Applications will be open from June 1, 2025, with a submission deadline of July 31, 2025.

Interviews

Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed in August 2025.

Announcement

The final TWF Scholar Athletes and Larry D. Walls Legal Scholar Award recipients will be announced in September 2025, and the awardees will be invited to attend a Gala on September 27, 2025.
