Intro
The Tailhook Educational Foundation (TEF) is accepting scholarship applications for its 2025 awards. The application period opens at 1200 NOON PT on Monday, 16 December 2024 and closes at 1200 NOON PT on Monday, 17 February 2025.
Eligibility
- Must be a high school graduate and a child or grandchild of a current or former Naval Aviator, Naval Flight Officer (NFO), or aircrewman.
- Alternatively, eligible applicants include children or grandchildren of personnel who served aboard a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier.
- Must have been accepted for undergraduate study at an accredited college or university.

For the next award cycle, applications will be available starting at 1200 NOON PT on Monday, 15 December 2025 and will remain open through 1200 NOON PT on Monday, 16 February 2026. Please consult the TEF website for the precise opening and closing dates for each academic year.
About the scholarships
- TEF grants more than 100 scholarships each year.
- Awards average over $4,600 per recipient; the largest award is $20,000 annually.
- Several scholarships target students pursuing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) degrees.
- All TEF scholarships support undergraduate students with a Naval Aviation legacy.

2025 highlights
In 2025, TEF provided scholarships to 150 of Naval Aviation legacy’s top students. Four awards went to Gold Star students whose parent-sponsor was lost while serving on active duty, and four were given to current or former Naval Aviation enlisted college students.
