Nevada Agricultural Foundation Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Nevada Agricultural Foundation
Intro / History
Founded in 1976 by alumni of the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) College of Agriculture, the Nevada Agricultural Foundation has supported Nevada agriculture for decades. Since its organization, the Foundation has awarded more than $2 million in scholarships and grants.
Impact and who we support
The Foundation’s funding has benefited:
- Students at UNR and other accredited universities
- FFA and 4-H youth groups
- Ag in the Classroom programs
- Research projects and development efforts
- Historical works, books and white papers related to Nevada agriculture
- Seminars and educational programs for working Nevada farmers and ranchers
Governance and staffing
A statewide Board of Directors and Officers oversees the Foundation’s mission and objectives. Board members, officers, and general members serve without pay; only the Executive Director and select consultants receive compensation. The Board is composed of individuals actively engaged in various sectors of agriculture, and—together with Foundation members and professional advisors—brings multi-generational knowledge of Nevada’s agricultural landscape.
Funding and growth
The Foundation’s asset growth has come through charitable contributions and careful, professional investment of trust funds. Continued support from sponsors and donors remains essential to sustaining its programs.
