AAUW Boulder City (NV) Branch Scholarships

Overview Applications for Fall 2025 scholarships will be posted on this page in February. For the spring 2025 semester, our branch awarded a total of $6,000 in scholarships shared among seven students attending Nevada State University and the University of Nevada, Reno. Who is eligible Applicants must meet all of the following: - Be a U.S. citizen and a high school graduate or hold a GED. - Have lived in Boulder City, NV or Henderson, NV for at least one year. - Be enrolled in or accepted to a degree program (associate’s, bachelor’s, or graduate) at a regionally accredited community college, four‑year college, or university. - Have completed a minimum of 15 college‑level credits (remedial courses excluded) with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher. - Preference will be given to women. - Be willing to attend an in‑person interview if requested. Obligations of scholarship recipients Awardees must agree to: - Join the AAUW Boulder City branch for one year (membership is provided at no cost to students). - Volunteer at two branch fundraising events (examples: Home Tour, Wine & Chocolate Tasting). - Take part in at least two branch activities (examples: branch meetings, board meetings, book group). Materials required to apply Submit the following documents: 1. Completed application form (available via the link on this page when the application opens). 2. One letter of recommendation describing your accomplishments, personal qualities, and academic/career goals. The recommender may not be a relative and must include contact information. 3. Personal statement — one page, typed, double‑spaced — outlining your educational and career objectives, steps you have taken toward them, your financial need, and how this scholarship will assist you. 4. Unofficial transcripts for all college coursework showing at least 15 credits successfully completed with an average GPA of 3.0 or higher.
