The Dan L. Meisinger Sr. Memorial Learn to Fly Scholarship was created to honor the legacy of Dan L. Meisinger Sr., a respected figure in the aviation industry for over six decades. As the founder of Executive Beechcraft, based in Kansas City, MO, he was twice recognized as Beech Aircraft’s Man of the Year. The scholarship fund aims to offer annual financial support for flight training to a deserving candidate.
Qualification Criteria
To be considered for the Dan L. Meisinger Sr. Memorial Learn to Fly Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a college student currently pursuing an aviation program
- Maintain a B average or higher, demonstrating high academic performance
- Have a recommendation from an aviation professional, though direct applications are also welcome
- Preference will be given to residents of Kansas, Missouri, or Illinois
Scholarship Details
The Dan L. Meisinger Sr. Memorial Learn to Fly Scholarship offers a grant of $2,500, specifically intended for initial or primary flight training.
Application Process
Interested candidates must fill out an application and submit it along with the necessary documents NO LATER than the last Friday in November.
- Before starting the application process, applicants MUST download the Appraisal and Endorsement Form. This is a mandatory step for the online application.
- Applications that do not include the required documents as specified on the application will not be evaluated.
All submitted information is deemed the property of NATF, treated as confidential, and only reviewed by the screening committee and NATF officials.
Notification of Award
Successful applicants will receive written notification by the end of April, while all other applicants will be informed in writing by mid-May. The names of our scholarship recipients are announced in general aviation publications, such as our Aviation Business Journal, and are also highlighted on our website.
Disbursement of Scholarships
The scholarship check from the Dan L. Meisinger Sr. Memorial Learn to Fly Scholarship will be issued jointly to the recipient and the relevant flight school (requiring endorsement by both parties). The check will be sent to the recipient’s address as provided on the scholarship acknowledgement form.
