Overview
The MSSA Undergraduate Scholarship recognizes students who have shown dedication to pursuing careers in the health and human services sector.
Award amount and number
MSSA will grant two (2) undergraduate scholarships, each worth $2,000.
Who is eligible
Only applications that satisfy every eligibility requirement will be considered. Applicants must:
- Hold active MSSA membership and maintain that membership for the duration of the award period. Student membership is free; details are available on the MSSA website.
- Be enrolled in an accredited degree program at a nonprofit college or university.
- Be declared in a major related to health and human services. Examples include (but are not limited to): Social Work; Psychology; Counseling; Healthcare Services Administration; Alcohol and Drug Studies; Family and Consumer Science; Health Science; Criminal Justice; Human Development and Family Services; Sociology; Public Administration.
- Have at least one semester remaining before graduation (eligible semesters include Fall 2025, Winter 2026, Spring 2026, or Summer 2026).
- Preferably plan to work in the Midwest (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota, or North Dakota).
Award recipients will be required to provide proof of enrollment before scholarship funds are released.
Application components
Applicants must submit:
- The online application form.
- Responses to two to three essay prompts about their career objectives and interest in health and human services.
- Two letters of reference, with at least one provided by a professional or academic contact.
