American Society for Enology and Viticulture Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by American Society for Enology and Viticulture
Introduction
The American Society for Enology and Viticulture (ASEV) provides annual scholarships to students pursuing studies in enology, viticulture, or related scientific disciplines that support the wine and grape industry. ASEV currently offers two distinct scholarship programs:
- ASEV Traditional Scholarship
- ASEV Presidents’ Award for Scholarship in Enology & Viticulture
All selections recommended by the ASEV Scholarship Committee are subject to final approval by the ASEV Board of Directors. ASEV does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, nationality, religion, gender, or physical/mental disability. ASEV is not affiliated with the University of California or other external institutions that may also administer scholarship programs.
Scholarship Awards and Announcement
Recipients are publicly announced at ASEV’s National Conference each June. Scholarship funds are paid as stipends for the quarter or semester. Prior to disbursement each quarter/semester, awardees must provide ASEV with proof of registration and documentation of fees paid for the upcoming term. Awards are based on the student’s enrollment status each quarter or semester and must match the major or program listed on the application.
Available Awards and Amounts
- ASEV Traditional Scholarship: standard awards of $3,500 each.
- Three named top awards (Dennis Martin — top enology, Michael Vail — top viticulture, James Wolpert — top extension): $7,500 each.
The total number of scholarships granted each year depends on the funds ASEV has available.
