Introduction
Candis served as a model of optimism for everyone at Twiddy & Company. She consistently greeted challenges with a smile and looked for the bright side in every circumstance. Her tenure with the company began in 2006 amid Tropical Storm Ernesto.
During Ernesto, forecasts predicted minimal effects on the northern Outer Banks, yet the storm brought unprecedented rainfall and widespread flooding to the area’s vacation home neighborhoods. Though she had only just joined the team, Candis stayed composed and used her warm demeanor to soothe anxious guests as they arrived, offering calm conversation and an encouraging smile. Her steady positivity under pressure quickly demonstrated her value to Twiddy & Company and led coworkers to affectionately nickname her “Ernesto.” That same upbeat spirit continues to influence her colleagues today.
Eligibility
- Available to students enrolled at College of the Albemarle.
- Candidate must be taking courses that emphasize business, management, analytics, and/or entrepreneurship.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 required.
