Smith Scholarship Program
Scholarship Sponsored by Smith Foundation
Please read these instructions carefully before submitting your application. All awardees will be notified on or before May 1, 2026.
Eligibility and Application Rules
1) Use of AI tools in any form is strictly forbidden. Have a person proofread your submission and ensure proper grammar and capitalization. Any application created or substantially assisted by artificial intelligence will be treated as plagiarism and will be disqualified.
2) This is not a contest of writing skill. While clear writing is important, the selection committee is most interested in your personal story: challenges you’ve faced, successes, your academic background, and your professional ambitions.
3) If you have already committed to attending a single university and that is the only school you plan to attend, please do not apply. Although an applicant’s academic fit is a significant consideration, the program’s matching BOT evaluates multiple factors when assigning scholarship recipients to institutions.
Mandatory Event
SSF requires new scholarship recipients to attend Boot Camp. This all-day, mandatory orientation will be held on Sunday, June 1st in Birmingham, AL. If you are unable to participate in this event, do not submit an application.
After You Apply
Once your application is complete, you will be notified regarding awards. You must provide documentation to verify the information in your application. All official notices and any award agreements will be produced using the personal information submitted on your application.
Thank you for your honesty. SSF encourages you to continue pursuing your educational goals.
