Stan & Thelma Plumlee Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Tennessee Housing Association
Overview
Up to four (4) scholarships will be awarded in 2026 through the Factory-Built Home Industry.
- Two (2) awards of $2,500 each are designated for students enrolled in trade school certification programs.
- Two (2) awards of $5,000 each are reserved for students pursuing degree programs.
- Eligible applicants must be seeking a certification or degree that directly supports the construction industry.
Why advanced trade training matters
Recent projections show the construction industry will need about 439,000 net new workers in 2025 to meet expected demand, and roughly 499,000 new workers in 2026 as spending increases with anticipated lower interest rates. This underscores the critical need for skilled trade and technical training.

- The applicant currently lives in a manufactured or modular home; or
- The applicant has a close relative employed in the manufactured housing industry (father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, brother, sister, aunt, or uncle); or
- The applicant is participating in an internship or apprenticeship program within the industry; or
- The applicant is directly employed by a company involved in manufactured or modular housing construction.
